In New England, the evergreen constitutes the most important group of plants, for these are effective in gardens everyday of the year.
From our dwarf Rhododendrons to Blue Spruce, from our spreading Junipers to 8 foot tall Arborvitaes, the range of sizes and forms among our evergreens is enormous. The foliage, flowers, berries, and cones add to their year round appeal. The backbone of any garden design - they combine beautifully with shrubs, perennials, and annuals.
In Rhododendrons, the Black Forest Nursery offers the hardiest of their type - the dwarf Ramapo, the very hardy small leaf PJM and Olga, Landmark, the dwarf small leaf Checkmate, and Little Olga. In big leaf Rhodies are Album, Boursault, Maximum Roseum, Nova Zembla, Purple Elegans and Roseum Elegans.
The Dark American and Emerald Green Arborvitaes are very effective as a tall year round screen.
Boxwood, as pictured below with the annual coleus, creates a rich design in your landscape. Lustrous deep green foliage year round. It is very responsive to shearing and is low maintenance. We carry three different varieties from 18" to 5 feet tall.
Junipers can fulfill many needs from ground cover to erosion control on steep areas. They are drought tolerant and come in many sizes, shapes and textures. They work beautifully with rocks and water gardens. Junipers range in colors of yellow, green, blue and silver/gray. Many have a winter color of dark purple or maroon. Full sun or part shade. Junipers start at $24.99.
